Video Conference and VPN (Virtual Private Network)
CPSP have secure VPN connectivity between all regional centers and head office with comprehensive infrastructure base on standard branded equipment's like CISCO, IBM, HP and APC, on this ideal infrastructure Video Conference facility available at at KHI, LHE, ISB, PEW, MUX, FSD, HDD, UET through Polycom RMX 1000 Unified Conferencing System.
During July 2010 to June 2011 approximately 40+ video conference sessions relate with Executive and Faculty Meetings, Educational Activities and Detail Courses and conferences conducted.
Expansion of IT services
Expansion undertaken during the period from July 2010 to June 2011 is briefly described below.
Networking of new buildings at Karachi and Lahore
The CPSP Network infrastructure was expanded during 2011 to include the new buildings at Karachi and Lahore.High speed fiber optic cable was laid directly from the Network Operations Center to ensure availability of Internet connectivity at high speeds.
A Fiber based Cisco switch was also installed to ensure optimum and secure connectivity.
Expending network connectivity at CPSP countrywide locations
As a member institute of the Pakistan Education & Research Network (PERN-2), the CPSP Karachi receives fast Internet connectivity with a bandwidth of 24 MB.
Networking integration is available at all CPSP Regional Centres through Linux based VPN servers and Video Conferencing facility at Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan, Hyderabad, Faisalabad and Quetta.
MPLS Lear 3 VPN from PTCL for Karachi is provided as aggregate site 8 MB connection and for Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Hyderabad and Quetta 1 MB per site.
IP Base Telephone Exchange at Karachi
IP base Telephone exchange (AVAYA) is implemented at the CPSP Karachi.
IP base telephonic conversation among Regional Centre is through IP Phones.
