About CPSP Library
The Library of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan was established in 1965 and since its inception has acquired current medical literature and served as a focal point in supporting postgraduate medical education. It is considered one of the biggest medical Libraries in Pakistan as far as the services and current collection are concerned. Library provides access to current reference materials and provides a quiet, comfortable, and peaceful environment for study. The area designated for study is capacious and comprises two floors of the Library, the ground floor and the mezzanine.
It is centrally air-conditioned with total 212 individual carrel desks (including 116 ground floor & 96 mezzanine floor carrel desks) to ensure privacy during the study process.
To honor CPSP Fellows at mezzanine floor there is a separate section with 11 individual carrel desks reserved only to Fellows, no one else can use this section.
CPSP library also provided you the facility of free individual lockers on first come first basis to keep your bags and personal belongings safely, before entering the library premises. For further details about locker policy please click the following link:

Circulating and Reference Books
There are approximately 10,000 books, dating from the 1960's to the present time, on a variety of health topics in consonance with the requirement of postgraduate medical studies. Some of the subjects covered are anatomy, biochemistry, obstetrics & gynecology, pharmacology, physiology, etc.
Electronic Books
The library provides access to more than 434 electronic books on different health subjects. Access to this material is provided within the library premises.
WHO Collections
As the CPSP Library is one of the WHO depository libraries it has a special collection of study and research material provided by WHO. This collection is placed in a specially designated area for ready access and identification. It has over 6000 books, monograph and Technical Report series etc.
Circulation Service
Document Supply
Inter-library loans are available from a variety of sources including the Library’s own stock and from the Aga Khan University of Health Sciences Karachi.
Reference Service
The service is for answering questions and providing assistance regarding collections, services, and information sources available at the CPSP Library.
Computing
Wi-Fi access is available in the Library.
The following documents are required for library membership card.
- M.B.B.S Degree (photocopy attested by CPSP Fellow, with Fellowship number)
- P.M.D.C Certificate (photocopy attested by CPSP Fellow, with Fellowship number)
- P.M.D.C Original (Original Certificate for verification only)
- House Job Certificate (photocopy attested by CPSP Fellow, with Fellowship number)
- National Identity Card (photocopy attested by CPSP Fellow, with Fellowship number)
- National Identity Card (photocopy attested by CPSP Fellow, with Fellowship number)
- FCPS/MCPS/IMM (photocopy of Admit Card/Acknowledgment Card/Bank Slip)
- 3 passport size color photographs
